DEI Program Manager

Greetings EVPA Colleagues,

It’s a pleasure to introduce De’Ondre (DJ) Hogan and Gabrielle Miller, DEI Program Managers joining the EVPA Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). They will support the strategic planning, development and implementation of the overarching diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda and initiatives for infusing DEI principles through the EVPA portfolio. DJ and Gabrielle will report to me.

In this role, they will plan, develop, and facilitate a wide range of new and enhance existing DEI programming for the workforce, including educational and training opportunities in partnership with unit leaders, teams, and campus partners for all to engage in meaningful contributions that bridge across differences and demonstrate cultural competence. Their work will focus on program strategic management of staff’s DEI professional development, assessment of program impact, and effective communications support. They will also lead and partner with internal and external committees ensuring alignment with EVPA-wide direction, priorities and goals to collectively advance a community that cares.

DJ Hogan comes to us from Midland Public Schools as the director of diversity, equity and inclusion where he provided support for over 7,000 k-12 students and families, and over 400 instructional staff. His agenda centered on cultural competence, social justice and promoting DEI through development and facilitation of programs and professional development in collaboration with departments. Prior to this, he was tasked to plan, develop, coordinate and market inclusion-focused professional development workshops to shift culture, align and embed DEI and aligning policy and practice. He has also facilitated continuous improvement efforts related to climate survey results to ensure growth and progress. DJ has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration.

Gabrielle Miller was most recently employed by Grand Valley State University leading the Digital Creator Lab supporting student experience where they managed the grand opening event, strategized, integrated, and maintained learning materials and enhanced digital accessibility, and served as the presenter and organizer of the Inclusive Pedagogy Retreat. Prior to this they coordinated the ADA30 program, hosted and facilitated digital symposium sessions. They also have presented and facilitated discussions and equity story circles on various DEI topics supporting community-building and faculty learning community. Gabrielle has a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science and Liberal Studies with a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies, and a Master of Arts in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Queer Studies.
